Abstract

When a connection request is sent from a telephone terminal, even if it is difficult to set a communication path to the destination telephone terminal only through the packet network, a circuit switching network is also used in cooperation with the packet network in order to set a communication path therethrough, so that call loss is prevented from occurring. In accordance with the communication path setting system of the present invention, when it is determined that an ADSL modemconnected to a VoIP networkis not operating, the MGCsets a communication path between a telephone terminaland a telephone terminalthrough the VoIP network, a public switched telephone networkand a voice band signal processing unitof the ADSL modem.
