Abstract

The invention relates to a method for performing a flexible multicast of multicast data to a multicast group within a telecommunication system wherein the multicast data is provided by a broadcast/multicast server and transferred to the users registered to the multicast group by means of channels. In the invention multi-channel multicast groups (B,B, . . . ) are provided. Each multi-channel multicast group offers at least one channel wherein a channel transports content. The availability and configuration of the multi-channel multicast group is announced to the users by means of an announcement multicast group (A). The user either initiates the changing to an announced multi channel multicast group or the user is forced by the operator to change in case the operator wants to control the allocation of resources.
