Abstract

An information processing apparatus starts a program from a recording medium while maintaining security of a program recorded on the recording medium. A detector detects a recording medium. A recording-medium starting section activates the recording medium detected by the detector to be in an accessible state. A program starting section performs an authentication check on the recording medium, reads a program from the recording medium when a result of the authentication check is normal, and starts an execution of the program.
