Abstract
The invention relates to an apparatus for maintaining a constant tension on a web of material, in particular on a label web used in a labeling machine (E), said apparatus comprising: a stationary rotary axle device () with a geometric rotational axis (M) and a tension compensation device () rotatable from a starting position about said rotational axis (M) of said rotary axle device (), said tension compensation device () comprising a force unit () which exerts a force on the tension compensation device () that counteracts the rotational movement of the tension compensation device () from the starting position. It is further provided that the force applied by the force unit () is a linear force acting on the tension compensation device () at a force application point () with a radial spacing to the rotational axis (M) of the rotary axle device ().
