Abstract

The present invention relates to autofocusing apparatus of a camera. The autofocusing apparatus of a camera includes a lens section on which a light signal is incident; an image sensor and ISP section that receives the light signal incident on the lens section so as to convert into an electrical signal and then outputs digitalized image data; an autofocus DSP that receives the image data from the image sensor and ISP section so as to extract predetermined image components, divides the central region of a picture into N regions (N is an integer larger than two), calculates a focus value for each region by integrating the predetermined image components, and calculates the maximum value while moving the focus lens of the lens section in the up and down direction in accordance with the focus value calculated for each region; and a driving section that drives the focus lens of the lens section.
