Abstract

An oxygen sensorincludes an oxygen detection element, which assumes a hollow tubular shape extending along the axis. The oxygen detection elementhas a closed tip end and an opened rear end. An internal electrode layeris formed on an inner circumferential surfaceof the oxygen detection element. The sensoralso has a terminal memberwhich is in contact with the internal electrode layerand in electrical connection therewith. The terminal memberhas press contact portionsandwhich come into press contact with the inner circumferential surfaceof the oxygen detection elementto hold the terminal memberin the oxygen detection element, and conduction portionswhich come into press contact with the internal electrode layeron the inner circumferential surfaceof the oxygen detection elementand into electrical connection with the internal electrode layer. Pressing force per unit area at the conduction portionsis smaller than that at the press contact portionsand
