Abstract
A cylinder blockof an engineis formed by assembling an inner block memberand an outer block member. The inner block memberincludes an upper deck portionintegrated with a cylinder liner portion. The outer block memberincludes a cylinder outer wall portion. The cylinder headis fastened to an upper deck portionwith head bolts. The cylinder outer wall portionis fastened to the upper deck portionwith block fastening boltsat an opposite side of the upper deck portionwith respect to the cylinder head. The head boltsand the block fastening boltsare threaded with the upper deck portionfrom the opposite sides with respect to each other. As a result, deformation of the upper deck portionand inclination of the cylinder liner portiondue to fastening of the boltsare reliably prevented.
