Abstract

A hub unit with a sensor comprises a hub unitincluding a body-side raceway member, a wheel-side raceway memberand two rows of rolling elements, and a sensor device. The sensor deviceincludes a magnetostrictive sensorfor detecting the inverse magnetostrictive effect, and the magnetostrictive sensoris mounted to the body-side raceway memberso as to be capable of measuring the tensile strain in the uppermost part of an inner wheelof the wheel-side raceway member. From the output of the magnetostrictive sensor, the tire grounding load and the rotational velocity are detected.
