A device assembly () for positioning a device () in a precision apparatus () includes a first housing (), a second housing (), a movement ball joint (), and a locking ball joint (). The first housing () retains the device (). The second housing () is coupled to an apparatus frame (). The movement ball joint () facilitates movement of the first housing () relative to the second housing (). The locking ball joint () facilitates locking of the first housing () to the second housing (). The movement ball joint () can guide movement of the first housing () relative to the second housing (). For example, the first housing () can include a first guide surface () and the second housing () can include a second guide surface (). In this embodiment, the guide surfaces () () cooperate to form the movement ball joint (). Additionally, each of the guide surfaces () () can form a portion of a sphere.
