Abstract

A tube () for inducing gases into critically ill patients, in which the distal end () is perforated, and covered with an inflatable-deflatable sleeve (). Gas is pumped into the proximal end of the tube (), which inflates the sleeve () engaging the inner walls of an airway. The gas, typically a mixture of oxygen, subsequently exits the sleeve () and enters the airway. Auxiliary accessories () can be attached to the tube ().
