Abstract
The invention provides a method of inserting a two piece implant into a patient. A first insertion device is connected to a first piece of the implant, and a second insertion device is connected to a second piece of the implant. Each piece of the implant is inserted with its associated insertion device. The inserted pieces are aligned relative to each other by mutual engagement of alignment structures of the insertion devices. The aligned pieces are connected to each other and the insertion devices are disengaged from the implant pieces.
