Abstract
A variable nozzle device () for a turbocharger comprises an annular nozzle () formed between an inner wall () and an outer wall (), and an annular arrangement of adjustable vanes () interposed in the nozzle () for defining a plurality of nozzle passages, wherein the nozzle () is adjustable by controllably adjusting the vanes () and by controllably varying an axial clearance between the outer wall () and the vanes ().
