The present invention provides a systemfor irradiating a breastof a patient. The systemcomprises a gantryrotatable about a horizontal axisand comprising a radiation sourcefor generating a radiation beamand a detectorspaced from the radiation source, and a barrierdisposed between the patientand the gantry.
