Abstract
The spindle deviceis provided with: a housingformed with a support hole; a spindlewhich is supported to rotate freely about an axis within the support holeof the housingand of which distal end is attached with a tool T; a drive motorfor rotating the spindleabout the axis, the drive motorbeing configured by a rotorarranged to rotate freely on an outer circumferential surface of the spindleand a statorfixedly provided on an inner circumferential surface of the support holeof the housing; an electromagnetic clutchfor transmitting intermittently a drive force of the drive motorto the spindle; and a controlling devicefor controlling an operation of the drive motorand that of the electromagnetic clutch
