Abstract
Disclosed herein are silicone resins comprising structural units of the formula: andat least one structural unit selected from the group consisting of: where 'A' is a spacer group comprising Cto Calkyl groups; 'B' and “C” are spacer groups comprising Cto Calkyl groups; “M” comprises a Group III element,; R, R, R, and Rindependently comprise OH, alkyl groups, or alkoxy groups; Rand Rindependently comprise hydrogen, alkali metal, or alkyl groups; and Rcomprises a alkyl group. Methods for preparing these silicone resins are also disclosed. The silicone resins are useful as catalysts for producing bisphenols.
