Abstract

A method for operating a railroad engine, comprising: using a lubricating oil in the railroad engine, wherein the lurbricating oil has: a) less than 100 ppm zinc; b) a cold cranking simulator viscosity at −15° C. less than 7000 cP; c) a GE HTHS (final) of at least 10.8 cP; and d) a TBN between 8 and 20.
