Abstract
A hub unit for use in electrically assisted bicycles is improved in an effect to cool a motor incorporated in the unit. The hub unit has a motorcomprising a statorand a rotor, and a hubenclosing the motortherein and rotatingly drivable by the rotation of the rotor. The unit has a pumpfor discharging air from inside the hubwith the rotation of the hub. The air is discharged from inside the hubby the operation of the pump, whereby air is admitted into the hubfrom outside through an air portformed in the huband is supplied to the motorto cool the motorand reliably prevent the motor from overheating.
