Abstract
A superconductive magnetic bearingcomprises a stationary bearing portionhaving an annular superconductor unitprovided on a fixed portion, and a rotatable bearing portionhaving annular permanent magnet unitsprovided on a rotary portionso as to be opposed to the superconductor unit. The rotary portionis contactlessly supported relative to the fixed portionby the pinning effect of a superconductor constituting the superconductor unit. The permanent magnet unitseach comprise a plurality of permanent magnet members arranged in superposed layers with an insulating layer provided between each adjacent pair of magnet members.
