Abstract
An inkjet recording apparatus and ink management method determine how much ink leaks when an ink cartridge is replaced, prompts the user to replace the ink sponge with another sponge of the necessary thickness and ink absorption capacity, and thus prevents ink leakage from soiling the cartridge holder. The amount of ink leakage is detected based on the time from when the ink coveropens until the ink cartridgeis removed from the cartridge holderand manages the ink absorbed by the ink absorbing materialaccordingly.
