Abstract
A liquid crystal display devicehas liquid crystalsealed between a pixel substrate, having a pixel electrodecomposed of a reflective electrodethat reflects light and a transparent electrodethat transmits light, and a opposed substratehaving a opposed electrodelocated opposite the pixel electrode. The liquid crystal display devicedisplays an image while being illuminated by light reflected from the reflective electrodeor with light transmitted through the transparent electrode. The pixel substratehas a coloring layer, which is formed on top of the reflective electrodeto add a color to light and has an openingabove the reflective electrode, and a multiple-gap portion, which is formed continuously on top of the coloring layerand in the openingand narrows the thickness of the liquid crystalabove the reflective electrode. The transparent electrodeis laid on the multiple-gap portionand the coloring layer.
