Abstract
In a scanning optical device which deflects a light flux from a light source with a deflection scanning unit to perform light scanning to a body to be scanned through at least one optical member, the scanning optical device is characterized by including a holding member, a position adjusting unit, and an abutting unit. The holding memberwhich is swingable holds a diffraction optical elementwhich is of at least one of the optical member. The position adjusting unit swings the holding memberto adjust an attitude of the diffraction optical elementheld by the holding member. The abutting unit has a viscoelastic memberwhich abuts on the holding member
