Abstract

A portable light () has a rigid base (), a power supply () having first and second poles () within the base and a light source () positioned in the base (). The light source () has first and second lead-ins (). The first lead-in () is in contact with the first pole () of the power supply (). Electrical isolation means () isolates the second lead-in () from the second pole () of the power supply (); and a flexible cover () is fitted to the base (). The cover () includes at least one portion () that is contactable with the second lead-in () whereby pressure on the at least one portion () defeats the electrical isolation means () and causes a connection between the second lead-in () and the second pole () of the power supply () to actuate the light source () while the pressure is being applied.
