Abstract

An exhaust-carrying component () of an exhaust system () for an internal combustion engine is provided, in particular for a motor vehicle. The component () includes a pipe () through which exhaust gas can flow from one longitudinal end () to the other longitudinal end () and which has between its longitudinal ends () a longitudinal section (), the wall () of which is provided with perforations (). The component () also has a housing () which surrounds the pipe () in a circumferential direction and to which the pipe () is fixedly connected in both one end area () having a longitudinal end () and in another end area () having the other longitudinal end (). In order for the component () to nevertheless be able to resist the thermal stresses that occur during operation, the perforations () are designed so that the longitudinal section () can absorb thermal longitudinal expansion forces between the pipe () and the housing () through elastic deformation.
