Abstract
A portable handheld work apparatus includes a drive motor configured as an internal combustion engine (). The work apparatus includes an air filter case () arranged in the intake channel of the engine (). The work apparatus further includes a cover () and a locking device () for releasably holding the cover (). An actuating element () of the locking device () is configured as a slider () which is guided so that it is essentially linearly movable.
