Abstract
Coated cemented carbide cutting tool inserts for bimetal machining under wet conditions at moderate cutting speeds, and in particular, cutting tool inserts for face milling of engine blocks formed from alloys of cast iron and aluminium and/or magnesium. The inserts are characterized by a submicron WC—Co cemented carbide and a coating including an inner layer of TiCNwith columnar grains followed by a layer of κ-AlOand a top layer of TiN.
