Abstract

The invention relates to a method for operating a magnetohydrodynamic pumpfor a liquid-metal anodeof an X-ray source. It is provided according to the invention that it can be operated in at least two modes, wherein the first mode is a thawing mode in which the liquid metalis melted in a lineof the liquid-metal anode, the second mode is an operating mode in which the liquid metalis pumped through the lineand X-ray beams are produced. In addition, the invention relates to a liquid-metal anodefor an X-ray source with a liquid metalwhich is located in a line, wherein an anode moduleis inserted into the linein the region of focus, with a pumpfor circulating the liquid metalin the lineand with a cooling systemfor the liquid metal. According to the invention, such a liquid-metal anodehas a magnetohydrodynamic pumpas described above.
