Abstract
An optical fiber array substratehas, in one surface thereof, eight V-groovesfor securing eight optical fibersaligned in parallel to each other, and V-shaped side groovesformed outside of the respective outermost V-grooveslocated at the opposite sides of the substrate. The apexes of the outside ridgesanddefining the outermost V-groovesare at the same height as the apexes of the inside ridgesand, the height of the bottomof the side grooveis lower than that of a contact pointbetween the ridge line of the V-grooveand optical fiber
