Abstract

An echo processing technique for attenuating echo components of a direct signal Xin a return signal Y. A receive gain Grand a send gain Geare calculated. The receive gain Gris applied to the direct signal and an input signal Xis produced and emitted into an echo generator system. The send gain Geis applied to an output signal Yfrom the echo generator system and the return signal Yis produced. A coupling variable COR is calculated which is characteristic of the acoustic coupling between the direct signal Xor the input signal Xand the output signal Y. The receive gain Grand the send gain Geare calculated on the basis of the coupling variable.
