Abstract
A doctor blade device () for cleaning a surface has a doctor blade () and a tub () for receiving the material stripped from the surface by the doctor blade. The doctor blade is movable between a position in which it projects out of an opening () of the tub and a position in which it is submerged in the tub. A closure element () closes the opening in the submerged position of the doctor blade.
