Abstract

A decoding system () is provided in which a memory transfer block () stores an input transport stream into a memory () and the top address of each TS packet into an address memory (), a CPU () refers to information stored in the address memory () to access each packet in a memory () and analyze header information in the packet, the CPU () generates a transfer instruction to transfer data from the memory () to a decoder (or) for each access unit (one frame, for example) and supplies it to a DMA circuit (or), and the DMA circuit (or) reads the data from the memory () and transfers it to the decoder (or) according to the transfer instruction supplied from the CPU ().
