Abstract

The monolithic ceramic electronic component includes a first external electrode, a second external electrode, and a ceramic sintered compactincluding internal electrodesand, the first and second external electrodesandbeing disposed on both end facesandof the ceramic sintered compactThe first and second external electrodesandhave a multilayer structure in which sintered electrode layersand, intermediate electroplated layersand, and plated layersandare arranged in that order. Exposed surface regionsof insulating oxidesare exposed from the outer faces of the sintered electrode layersand, the oxidesbeing derived from a glass frit contained in the sintered electrode layers. Metalsare deposited on the exposed surface regionsand the intermediate electroplated layersandare then formed by electroplating.
