Intra-picture prediction coding method

Abstract

The intra-picture prediction coding apparatusis comprised of: an intra-picture prediction mode candidate determination unitthat determines intra-picture prediction mode candidates by switching among intra-picture prediction mode candidate determination methods based on an amount of resources; an intra-picture prediction execution unitthat sequentially performs intra-picture prediction on a current block using each of intra-picture prediction modes in the intra-picture prediction mode candidates and generates an intra-picture predictive image; a prediction difference calculation unitthat generates a prediction difference imagebased on the intra-picture prediction imageand the image presented by the current block; a coding efficiency evaluation unitthat calculates an evaluation valuebased on the prediction difference image; an intra-picture prediction mode determination unitthat determines the intra-picture prediction mode whose evaluation valueis the smallest among the intra-picture prediction mode candidates; and a coding unitthat codes a prediction difference imageas a result of the prediction using the determined intra-picture prediction mode as well as the intra-picture prediction mode information
