Abstract
A method and device for determining at least one traffic parameter in a data transmission system including at least one transmitter and one receiver, wherein the receiver includes a modem with equalizer. The method includes determining at least one piece of data given by the equalizer, wherein the piece of data includes the equalization error E; and determining one or more traffic parameters in taking account of the data provided, the fixed quality of service QoS and a relationship linking the quality of service and the equalization error E.
