Abstract

The invention provides methods and materials for treating inflammatory conditions. Specifically, the invention provides polypeptides, isolated nucleic acids, host cells, and methods that can be used to induce an antibody response in a mammal against an antigen such as C5 or C5. For example, the methods and materials described herein can be used to reduce the effects of C5within a mammal by reducing the amount of total and receptor bound C5in the mammal.
