Abstract

A system () for orienting an object () relative to a base () to which the object () is rotatably coupled includes a braking surface () in fixed relation with the base (). A brake () is engaged with the braking surface (). A linear actuator () has a body () in fixed attachment with the object () via a strap member () and a coupling element (). The linear actuator () also includes a rod () in fixed communication with the brake () through an elongate member () that flexes in response to a braking force () imposed on the braking surface () by the brake (). The linear actuator is activated to generate linear motion () of the rod (). The linear motion () of the rod () causes rotational motion () of the object (). The strap member () is enabled to flex as the object () rotates.
