Abstract

A fun-ride more particularly for amusement parks, fairs and the like comprises at least one rail vehicleand a guide lap for the vehicle. In a lateral projection a lap sectionof the guide lap essentially constitutes a loop, the lap sectioncomprising a first uphill sectionand a second downhill sectionand the top ends of the sections are connected together. At least in the uphill sectionthe meansfor engagement with the vehicleis arranged. This means may for example be a holding brake or a coupling device. It is preferably operated when the vehiclecomes to a halt after a downward movement owing to the action of gravity on the vehicle. Accordingly a method for the operation of such a fun-ride comprises the steps of: transport of the vehiclefrom a starting pointandin the bottom portion of the lap sectionby means of a lift upward; release of the vehiclefrom the lift, which the owing to the action of gravity performs a downward movement; activation of the meansfor engagement with the vehicle, when same is in the vicinity of the means; and further transport or return transport of the vehicleto the starting pointandby means of a transport means.
