Abstract

An information-processing apparatus comprises a motion-detecting unit, a motion-compensating unit, a DCT/IDCT unit, a Q/IQ unit, a VLC unit, a VLD unit, and a DSP unit, as a plurality of units. A mode-controlling unit can utilize at least two modes of used of the information-processing apparatus. One mode is a 'process mode ' where the processing of moving picture are performed, and another mode is a 'memory mode' where all internal memories of the plurality of processing units are logically combined to be directly accessible from the outside as one memory via an interface unit.
