Abstract

A keyboard assembly () has a light guide () and a supporting structure () arranged to provide an illuminated and integrated keyboard assembly (). A light guide () provides an integrated supporting, protecting and illuminating structure for keyboard assemblies (). The keyboard assembly () has a layer of rigid material () which separates the elastic layer () from the printed wired board () located under the rigid layer (). The layers are bonded together. The protection rib () is part of the combination of the elastic layer () and rigid layer () which is supported against the printed wired board () by the rigid layer (). The combined structure of the light guide and supporting frame forms an integrated structure () which illuminates an array of keys (), supports the keyboard assembly () and protects the keys () and key topsfrom mechanical stress.
