For replacing a cassettein an automatic loader sectionan operation of retracting the cassetteto a cassette accommodation sectionis performed in parallel with an operation of inserting a new cassettefrom the cassette accommodation sectionto the automatic loader sectionAccordingly, the time required by the automatic loader sectionfor the cassette replacement operation is the same as the longer time among the time for retracting the cassette and the time for inserting the cassette. Thus, the time in which the automatic loader sectionmust stop the transportation of the image recording materials can be shortened.
