Abstract
A cutting tool assembly () including a tool holder () having a removeable clamp (). A cutting insert support blade member () is removably held in the tool holder by the clamp (). The cutting insert support blade () includes at least one, preferably two, insert receiving pockets (). The pockets () are defined by a body portion () and a clamp portion () joined together by an integrally formed resilient or deformable portion () which permits slight resilient movement between the clamping and body portions to facilitate the installation of a cutting insert () in a pocket. When the insert support blade () is mounted in the tool holder (), the clamp inserts clamping forces to the clamping portion () of the insert support blade which serves to secure the insert support blade to the tool holder and exert clamping forces on an insert () held in the pocket. The integrally formed resilient/deformable portion () includes a plurality of slots (), some of which open into an aperture () spaced from a pocket (). The slots enable resilient movement between the clamping and body portions.
