Abstract

A disk drive having a remarkably improved shock resistance and conforming to a standard form factor is disclosed. A hard disk drive capable of detachably combined with a PC card is formed by assembling separate component parts including a functional unitincluding a disk, a base plateholding the functional unit, a frame bumperdisposed in a middle part of the assembly and serving as a shock-absorbing member, a card assemblyprovided with a connectorto be connected to the slot of a PC card, and a top covercovering the functional unitheld on the base plate. The frame bumperreceives lateral shocks that act on the side surfaces of the hard disk drive.
