Abstract

A three-dimensional magnetic bearing sensorincludes a first sensor, a second sensor, and a third sensoreach constituted by a magneto-impedance sensor elementcomprising a magnetic sensitive memberhaving a characteristic changed responsive to an external magnetic field, an insulatorformed to allow penetration of the magnetic sensitive membertherethrough, and an electromagnetic coilmade up of foil-like conductive patternsarranged in adjacent relation on an outer surface of the insulator. The first sensor, the second sensor, and the third sensorare disposed such that directions in which the magnetic sensitive membersin respective sensors have maximum magnetic field detection sensitivities are substantially orthogonal to each other.
