Abstract

An apparatus in one example comprises a server component that sends one or more signals to cause an allocation of one or more network resources for an active call terminated to a mobile telephone upon initiation of a handoff. The handoff is between a packet-switched portion of a mobile switching center and a circuit-switched portion of a mobile switching center. The one or more network resources provide a translation between the packet-switched portion of the mobile switching center and the circuit-switched portion of the mobile switching center.
