Abstract

An engine comprises a crank case () provided with a lower opening portion (), which is covered with an oil pan () from below, and with a pair of left and right oil passages which extends in a front and rear direction along left and right lateral walls () and (). In this engine, the crank case () has the left and right lateral walls () and () provided with left and right ribs () and () extending in the front and rear direction. These left and right ribs () and () are raised inwards from the left and right lateral walls () and () of the crank case (). In order to provide left and right oil passages () and () in these left and right ribs () and (), these ribs () and () are positioned at the lower opening portion () of the crank case ().
