Abstract
An apparatus for an internal combustion engine () includes a base engine () having an intake system () and an exhaust system (). A turbine () has an inlet in fluid communication with the exhaust system (), and an outlet. A first exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler () fluidly communicates with the intake system () and the exhaust system () of the engine (). An EGR valve () is in fluid communication with the EGR cooler (), and a purge valve () is in fluid communication with the EGR cooler () and the outlet of the turbine ().
