Abstract

The high-pressure pump () comprises a number of pumping elements () actuated in reciprocating motion through corresponding suction and delivery strokes. Each pumping element () is provided with a corresponding intake valve (), in communication with an intake pipe (), supplied by a low-pressure pump (). Arranged on the intake pipe () is a shut-off valve () controlled in a choppered way in synchronism with an initial part (') of the suction stroke of each pumping element ().
