Abstract

A network component () for an optical network () is described, including a coupling device () for optical coupling of the network component () to the optical network (), the coupling device () having a receiving module () and a transmitting module (); a first data processing device () which is unidirectionally connected to the receiving module (); a second data processing device () which is unidirectionally connected to the transmitting module (); the first data processing device () being unidirectionally connected to the second data processing device () for transmitting data to the second data processing device; a detection device () for detecting the network status; and a two-way switch () for switching of the input of the first data processing device () between the receiving module () and the output () of the second data processing device () as a function of the network status detected.
