Abstract

This invention relates to a novel compound represented by the formula (I): or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, shows a monocyclic or bicyclic heteroaryl group which has a nitrogen atom adjacent to the carbon atom bonded to the amide group, and the heteroaryl group may be substituted by R; The compound according to this invention has a glucokinase activation effect, and for example, is useful in the treatment and prevention of diabetes mellitus, and in the prevention of its complications such as diabetic nephropathy, diabetic retinopathy, diabetic neuropathy and diabetic arteriosclerosis.
