Abstract

A keypad assembly () for a communication device () utilizes two boards, a main circuit board () with electronic components including light emitting diodes (LEDs) () and a keypad board (). A lightguide () is sandwiched between the two boards (), the lightguide having window protrusions () to accommodate the LEDs (). The keypad board () has openings () within which the window protrusions () align in order to provide backlighting and sealing to the communication device ().
