An embodiment includes a method to reduce background noise in a spectrum. A further embodiment includes a method to reduce, by at least about two orders of magnitude, background noise in an experimental absorbance spectrum. Further, an embodiment includes a machine-readable medium that provides instructions, which when executed by a machine, reduce background noise in a spectrum.
